On Friday, August 10, 2012, our gracious, heavenly Father called another one of his childen home. Moonie Robinson passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family. Born in Weymouth, NS, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Myrtle Cromwell. Moonie was predeceased by her husband, Bob Robinson, on May 4, 2008 after 55 years of marriage.
In their early years Moonie and Bob lived and worked in Boston before settling down in Digby to raise their increasingly large family. Moonie devoted her time to caring for her family but she also worked outside the home, retiring after many years from the Children's Training Centre. She was a past member of the Conway & Acaciaville Betterment Association and the Women's Institute. Family was Moonie's first priority and she welcomed and doted on each new grandchild and great
grandchild. Moonie was well known for her hospitality and her generosity in the community. She opened her heart and home to friends, neighbors, extended family and strangers. She made all feel welcome and they never left her house without being offered something to eat, cooking gigantic meals so there would be plenty to feed anyone that would pop in. She loved to Frenchie shop and she bought not only for her family but always looked for clothing, etc. that she would give to others who were in need.
She had a big heart and was always ready to offer help wherever there was a need. Moonie enjoyed bingo, playing cards (45's and Pitty) and any occasion that involved spending time with her family. She looked forward to special holidays when her family would all return home and congregate together.
She is survived by son Ronnie (Janet), of Digby, daughters Sharon (Mike), Lelia "Tottie", Wendy (Chuck), all of Digby; Pam, of Halifax; Shirley (Bill) of New Minas, Marsha (Ronnie) of Digby ; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are sisters Guida Simms, of Digby and Evangeline Cromwell, of Weymouth.
In addition to her husband, Bob, she was predeceased by daughter Marlene, infant son Robert Jr., sisters Mildred and Alvada, and also her brothers Vincent, Emmerson, and Alliston (Eppie). Though it grieved Moonie to leave her loved ones behind, she entrusted them to God's care and prepared for the next stage of her journey, looking forward to being re-united with her husband and children
in Heaven.
