

Winchester, Paul Irwin of Digby passed away with family by his side February 5, 2011 in Digby General Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1918 in Digby, he was a son of the late William St.Clare and Georgie (Daley) Winchester. Paul was owner and operator of Winchester Transfer for many years and was later employed with the Nova Scotia Dept. of Transportation. Paul was recognized for 52 years of combined service with the Digby Water Commission, Digby Town Council, where he served as Deputy Mayor for nine years and Digby Fire Dept. Paul was a past member of the Digby Yacht Club, Digby Curling Club and bowling league. Paul was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Digby. Paul is survived by his daughters, Lorna Burnham (the late David Burnham), Digby and Lorraine Manser (the late Charles Manser), Yarmouth; grandchildren, Vikki, Becky, Matthew, Tracey, Tim, Sandi, Cathy, Ronnie, Penny, Tim, Melissa, Nathan and Holly, many great grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his wife Laura (nee Amirault) Winchester; sons, Paul Jr.; Lowell and Ronald “Butch”; daughter, Theta Woodworth; brothers, Ralph, Earl, Don, Digby, William and Burgus; sisters, Theta VanTassell and Viola Thibault.Visitation Monday 2-4 & 7-9 with prayers at 8pm in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Father Keith Billard presiding. Interment in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Digby.
