

Born on January 7, 1935, in Easton, NS, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie Mullen. Stella was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished and involved member of the Easton community. She was a devoted member of the New Tusket Baptist Church where she had many roles including as treasurer and as a Sunday School teacher. Her strong faith and love for the Lord guided her throughout her life.
Stella was a talented and avid quilter, donating many homemade quilts to fundraising efforts and gifting beautiful quilts to her loved ones. The countless quilts she gifted are a testament to her creativity and generosity.
Stella was a passionate teacher and loved reading. She completed her education up to grade 11 and continued her studies at the Normal College in Truro, NS. She taught for three years and remembered her teaching years fondly. She continued to enjoy reading throughout her life. Stella was the bookkeeper for Hillsdale for 50 years and calculated the annual kit averages for Hillsdale for 60 years. She was cherished by all who worked with her.
Stella will be especially remembered for her warm and loving nature. She enjoyed welcoming guests into her home and was thrilled to share a story. Stella’s faith, kindness, work ethic, and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Stella will be dearly missed by her sister Gladys Montgomery and brother Ronald Mullen; children: Sherilyn (Robert) Polvi, Lindon (Charlie) Mullen, Darby (Larry) Mullen, Floris Mullen, and Kelton Mullen; grandchildren: Thane Mullen, Elizabeth Polvi, Alan (Katherine) Polvi, Catherine Polvi, Todd (Bekah) Mullen, and Danielle Mullen; and great-grandchildren: Elijah Mullen, Anna Mullen, and Sophia Mullen. She will be fondly remembered by countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and loved ones.
She was predeceased her husband, Earl Mullen, her parents Harold and Elsie, five brothers: Walter, Cecil, Edgar, Robert, and Harry; and three sisters: Clara, Dorothy, and Ruth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 6–8 p.m. at New Tusket Baptist Church. A celebration of Stella’s life will take place on Friday, September 5, at 2 p.m. also at the New Tusket Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Craven officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Havelock, NS.
