

Wayne Douglas HENDERSON, 76, Smith’s Cove, Digby County, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on 13 April 2025, after a brief illness. Wayne was the eldest son of the late Leslie F.M.HENDERSON and Constance Norna DOBSON.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Penny and Diane (Brian); son, Eddie (Lori); grandchildren, Megan, Jeffery, Joseph, Matt (Ashley); Maci and Ashton; Christopher, Shyla and Jennie; great-grandchildren, Chancelor and Hazel. Wayne is also survived by his current wife, Phyllis MLECZKO and her daughters, Krista and Danielle; ex wives, Gloria APTT; Carole RYAN and Deborah McWHINNIE. He was a much-loved brother of Donna BUTLER (William), Granville Ferry, and family; Norna O’BRIEN, Saulnierville, and family; Kathy ROBERTS, Fort McCoy, Florida and family; Julie HENDERSON, Milford, Annapolis County, and family; Scott HENDERSON, (Dawn), Bridgetown and family; Jayne HENDERSON, East Hants, and family; and James HENDERSON, Meteghan, Digby County.
Wayne was a mechanic. If it had a motor, engine, or wheels, he could fix it. He was proud to have earned 3rd, 2nd and 1st class papers in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at the dockyard in Halifax, Town of Kentville, Michelin, National Sea and his own service stations and garages in Waterville and Digby and Queens Harbour Master on the Quest. Wayne will also be missed by his many friends from all the places he has lived and worked. Wayne was an animal lover, if it had fur and four legs, it was his favorite at the time. His dog, Diesel, and cats miss him. Wayne will always be remembered in the community as the school bus driver with the mountain lion.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
