

Wilbert Lyall Patterson – 86, Truro, passed away peacefully May 17, 2011, surrounded by his family. Born April 1, 1925 Wilbert was a son of the late William and Janet (Warren) Patterson. Wilbert served in the Merchant Marines in WWII. He turned his hand to many tasks during his life, including barbering, sheet metal tradesman, retail merchandising and Captain of a tugboat. Later in life, Wilbert found his passion and his gift practicing Reiki and Reflexology. Wilbert is survived by his companion and best friend, Gladys Lindsay, Belmont; children Linden (Phyllis) Patterson, George Patterson, Allison Patterson, all of Freeport; Heidi (George) Canton(Patterson), Truro; Patrick (Amanda) Patterson, Truro; Alice Patterson, Halifax; Walter Patterson (Caitlin), Halifax; Hannah Patterson and fiancee Mike, Truro; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Wilbert was pre-deceased by a daughter Rowena Warren, twin sister Louise Patterson in infancy, sisters Viola Titus, Alice Hatfield and brother Walter Patterson. Visitation 1-3:30pm Friday, May 20th in Freeport Baptist Church, where the funeral will be held at 4pm. Mr. Craig Glavin will officiate. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Freeport. Following the interment, there will be a reception held in the church vestry. Donations in Wilbert’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society through Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby (245-2525)
