Born on May 7, 1927, to Aurelio Balmilero and Ana Parras Balmilero. He lived in Tungel Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He married Virginia Villanueva in 1951. They had 5 children: Glorito, Josie, Arcelie, Nelio, and Amelita.
He grew up in challenging times and experienced the difficulties of life, but he never let adversity dampen him. He was widowed at the age of 33. He did not remarry because he was thinking about the welfare of his children. He concentrated on raising and supporting his children.
In 1965, he and his children moved to Bacsay, Luna, Apayao, Philippines, because his older brother had purchased land for them to cultivate. He worked as a farmer and planted rice as a source of living. Farming helped provide for the needs of his family. Although he knew the importance of hard work, he also believed in the importance of education and supported his children’s studies.
In 1991, his son Nelio petitioned him to immigrate to California for a better life in America. He worked as a farm laborer for some time, and after five years, he obtained his citizenship.
He eventually retired from working as a farm laborer. He enjoyed gardening in the backyard and planting a variety of vegetables. He loved to sing and play his guitar and took every opportunity to ride his bike throughout the neighborhood and occasionally ride his bike to church to fulfill his duties.
Although he retired as a farm laborer, his labor of love for God continued to grow even stronger in his duty. He has lived as a light and led by example to his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. To be a true member of the Church of Christ, who fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
He has 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren who will truly miss him. Will remember his unwavering kindness and selflessness. He taught that true wealth lies in the love and obedience we give to our Almighty God. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and integrity that will never be forgotten.
2 Timothy 4:7
