Gregory Bernard Dougherty

12/6/1948 – 1/3/2025

Gregory Bernard Dougherty (76) of Madera, CA passed away at Stanford Hospital, on January 3, 2025, after a valiant battle with Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Greg was born on December 6,1948 in Monterey, CA to Willard and Barbara Dougherty. He was raised and attended schools in Dinuba CA, graduating in 1967. Greg attended Reedley College and Fresno State where he earned a BA in Manufacturing Engineering. He began his engineering career at New Holland in Kingsburg CA, and later moved to Raytheon Technologies-an Aerospace Plant, in Fairfield CA, where he retired after 35 years of service. He and his wife, Vicki, lived in Lodi, CA for 34 years where they raised their family.

Greg lived a life full of adventure and leaves many memories for his loved ones. He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting and hiking. He was a former pilot and super modified racecar driver. He loved traveling, boating and snow/water skiing with his family and friends. Some of his favorite places to travel to were South Africa, Costa Rica, Wyoming and South Dakota. In retirement, Greg enjoyed designing and building a variety of projects with his laithe and mill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Barbara Dougherty and his sister, Susan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Vicki. His daughters Shantel Maiorana (Michael), and Brie Carvalho (Cory), as well as his grandchildren, Meryn Carvalho, Ryan Maiorana, and Masen Maiorana. His brother Kevin Dougherty (Debbie). His lifelong friend Ed “Slick” Houck (Mary Rose) and countless loved ones.

Graveside services will be held on January 23, at Smith Mountain Cemetery, in Dinuba at 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club.
