May 12, 1924 – February 19, 2016
Haruo “Harry” Inn passed away peacefully at home at the age of 91. Harry was born in Marin County, CA and his family eventually settled in Reedley.
World War II interrupted life in Reedley and his family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho. Harry was drafted into the Army, but when he contracted mumps his service was delayed until 1945 when he served in Korea. He then enrolled in the L.A. National Mechanic’s School and returned to work in a Reedley auto shop until his father asked him to help at his Reedley Takemoto Labor Camp serving Japanese immigrant men. During this time he met his future wife, Kiyoko Tsudama, marrying in 1952. They had four children, Lorraine, Roger, Jolene and Joyce.
The family run Takemoto Camp was sold in 1966. Harry’s resume included working at Ito’s Packing House, co-opening a Fresno gas station, working at the Sanger Co-op, and then Nash De Camp as a fieldman until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed his retirement playing golf, woodworking, volunterring at the Reedley Buddhist Church and creating unique 3-D origami paper crafts (honorable mention at the Fresno Fair). He was also tech savvy and enjoyed using his computer, iPad, camera and portable printer. Most of all he enjoyed being a passionately involved grandfather.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, five brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife Kiyoko, children Lorraine (Albert) Fujitsubo, Roger Inn, Jolene (Jeff) Yee, and Joyce (Wade) Mebed. Six grandchildren, Neil Inn (Carol), Derek Fujitsubo (Elizabeth), Haruki and Kiera Yee, Zachary and Cody Mebed as well as four sisters, three in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Reedley Buddhist Church on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
