

Josephis (Joe) Davis was born March 8, 1917 to Roscoe and Nora Davis in Logansport, Indiana and passed away at home in Dinuba on October 17, 2015. He is pre¬ceded in death by his son, Dennis, three sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of over 71 years, his son, Stanley, one sister, three brothers, numer¬ous nephews, nieces, and countless friends. Joe served over seven years in the military service prior to, during, and after World War II in the South Pacific. He married the love of his life, Eileen, on September 20, 1944 and started a family in Dinuba,. His first son was born in 1946 and for the next fourteen years, he raised chick¬ens for eggs. After the war, he also worked many years for Alta Chevrolet. In the mid 1950’s, he started working for the Dinuba Post Office, where he retired in 1978. His second son, Stanley, was born in 1957. In 1960, the family moved to the 20 acre ranch that has been in the family since the late 1900’s. He farmed table grapes, cotton, and most recently, oranges. Joe continued to farm and was irrigating the oranges until recent years. Joe could be seen most mornings taking his walk around the orange grove. During the last years, Joe would often be seen at Val’s Diner and Perko’s, either for coffee or lunch. The family would like to thank all of his wonderful care givers which allowed him to remain at home. Some care givers have been with them almost eight years.
