Wendell was the first born son of Hobart and Vola Johnson and was born in Dinuba, CA. He was predeceased by his parents and wife Dorothy May Johnson. His survivors include his daughter Wanda Lee Johnson, son Darrel Wendell Johnson, daughter in-law Suzie Johnson. 4 grandchildren Michelle L. Johnson, Darrell M. Johnson and wife Lisa, Jeffrey M. Johnson, Tim Jantzen and wife Jennifer and 9 great grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Charlotte Fabritz, Vernon Johnson, Inez Metzler and brother in-law Pete Metzler. He is also survived by Sister in-laws Helen Smith, Betty Beck, Dolores Hutchison, Carmen Garoppo, and one brother in-law William Isbell and over 100 nieces and nephews. Wendell attended schools in Dunlap, Navelencia, Reedley High School and Reedley College. He enlisted in the Army Air-Corp 1942 during WWII and served in Italy as a mechanic. He worked for the US Postal Service for 35 years. Wendell was 93 when he passed away Sunday July 12, 2015 at his Reedley home.
