

A World War II era veteran of the U.S. Navy, he received an electrical engineering degree from the City College of NY and attended graduate school at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. After serving as Chief Engineer at Filtron Company, Inc of Flushing, NY he was founder, President, and CEO of RFI Corporation Bay Shore, N.Y. where he served until his retirement.
He formerly was a Trustee and President of the Board of Education of the Amityville Union Free School District, and was elected Trustee of the Village of Amityville, where he was also appointed Deputy Mayor. He was a Life Member of the Amityville Fire Department, and ex-Captain of the Fire Police Company. He was also a volunteer consultant with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) a unit of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and a Past Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis International for the Southwest Suffolk County Division.
He leaves his loving wife of 65 years, Sharon, son Dennis (Pam), daughter Ellen Gordon (Stuart), and six grandchildren; Joshua and Lauren Gordon, and Elissa, Lucas, Allison and Samantha First.
Funeral services will take place at IJ Morris Dix Hills on Thursday, March 31, 2016 commencing at 11:00am with interment to immediately follow at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
Shiva will be observed at the "Gordon" residence, (31 Randolph Dr. Dix Hills, NY 11746) Thursday immediately following services through Sunday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. ( www.mskcc.org )
