I can't remember a time when I didn't know Rhoda and Dan Greenberg. Whether it was sharing a cabana at Brightwaters and then Bayway beach clubs, sharing a pew at the Jewish Center or traveling to exotic hot spots like Atlantic City and Rosenbergs in the Catskills, they were always around. Rhoda was always a happy presence in my life. Whenever I saw her and Dan it almost always meant laughter and smiling for myself and my whole family. The friendship between them and my parents, Fred and Rosalie, is imprinted on my mind and has been my own template for adult friendships. I want to celebrate both of them for lives well lived and thank them for their impact on my life.

I first met Rhoda when her son Eric and I became fast friends at Northwestern during our first year of college. Eric and I had a lot in common, and that included a strong sense of support, celebration and love in our family of origin. When I met his parents during that first year, it confirmed we had all that and more in common: We actually got along and liked being with our parents. Rhoda was funny, bright, engaging, and along with Dan made me feel like I was with extended loving family. Call it "parents on loan" (when my folks were not around!). My life is so very much richer for having known her, and now I send my condolences to her children and their children, and of course all her loved ones. Daniel Silver
