Ruth Weiser was born in Poland/Austria on March 10, 1927. Her father, Victor Frost had already departed for the New World/America and was setting up life in New York City. Ruth and Pearl boarded a ship named the SS Mexique and travelled across the Atlantic Ocean for a new life!
When Ruth and Pearl arrived at Ellis Island, Victor was there and gathered up his daughter like a football!
Ruth Frost grew up in Brooklyn, New York with her mother and father and sister Claire and brother Jerry Frost. They lived at 217 Hart Street in Brooklyn.
Ruth became a legal stenographer and worked for a lawyer named Louis Horowitz. She enjoyed her job and then, as World War Two was underway, she started corresponding with a young man who was in the U.S. Army Air Force named Jacques Weiser. Jacques was an excellent writer and he sent her many, many letters. Ruth loved those letters and they finally met in person and began to become boyfriend and girlfriend.
After the war, Ruth and Jack were married and began their life in Brooklyn and later moved to Inwood in Manhattan. Along the way, Barbara was born and then Jeffrey and then Bradley. The Weiser family needed more room so they moved to Huntington Long Island where they bought a brand new home at 40 Clafford Lane.
Ruth learned to drive and began her suburban life in Huntington. Jacques was a high school teacher and then became a college professor. Ruth worked at the A and S Department Store and later began to take the Long Island Railroad everyday to New York City when she worked for the 1199 Hospital Workers Union.
Finally Jacques and Ruth retired and spent time at their home on Long Island. They loved to visit libraries and book stores and collected many, many books.
Ruth Frost Weiser will be remembered as a loving, caring, wonderful woman with a patient and calm demeanor. She had a good sense of humor. She will be an angel in heaven as she was on earth.
Funeral services will be held at the I.J. Morris Funeral Home in Dix Hills, NY on Sunday, November 19 at 11:00am. Interment will take place immediately following at the Mount Golda Cemetery.
