No question, Scott was a unique man. His passion for life and the kindness and decency he conveyed made clear the kind of special person he was. 
In the years I knew Scott he routinely impressed me and everyone else he encountered. 
To his friends and colleagues his loss is terrible. To his family and those closest to him, his loss is unimaginable. I pray that they all find peace.

Scott was a comet burning bright. Only he burned out way too soon for all of us. Now he is our guardian angel in heaven. Long Island can smile and look up to heaven knowing that Scott is looking down on us. He will always be with us in spirit.

Scott Martella was lost too soon. He was one of the few people who got on the phone with us trying to help during difficulties in losing our home during Hurricane Sandy. He even gave us his personal cell phone #. He had such a bright future ahead as a service leader to his community. My deepest condolences to his family and fiance'. Such a tragic loss too soon.

Scott was a kind soul, and had a smile that lit the room. Scott may have been under the radar, however he was very much environmentally active in Long Island. Gov. Cuomo say it best... "Long Island is a better place today because of his service and dedication to the community." My prayers are with his family, Fiance and friends. May Scott rest in eternal peace.

Our family has spent time with Scott and his family at numerous events with the Martella family. His beautiful smile and outgoing personality will not only be missed by us but im sure by the others he has touched throughout his life.  What a terrible loss we are feeling. Our prayers are with our dear friends during this heartbreaking time.

Since hearing of Scott's death I have been haunted by his passing.  I have prayed for his family, fiancé, friends and business associates that worked closely with him.  I met Scott a few times and he was always looking forward, thinking and focused.  When someone so young with so much potential is taken it leaves a void not only in the hearts of those that loved him, but in the souls of all of us that knew him well and even casually.  We need more young professionals like Scott that can carry the future on their shoulders with passion and dedication.  More importantly, we need people who care about the future of others that they may not even know. That compassion for humanity is being lost today and Scott was one of the beautiful lights that may have led to a better future.  We all lost something with his passing.  My heart breaks for those that loved him so and I hope that in time you can find some peace in knowing how much Scott touched people, accomplished and left an impact.  My God help you through this most painful time.

I didn't know Scott personally but have heard many wonderful stories about him. I read the story in the newspaper and my heart instantly wept for his fiancé and family.  Everyone who was blessed to know him in his short life are the lucky ones. Rest in peace, Scott.

Scot was kind. He was smart. He was witty and had a great sense of humor. He was one of the good guys , hard working, dedicated, insightful  and honest. He had you at hello with that winning smile of his.
I first met him many years ago working on Brian X. Foley's senatotrial campaign.
We had great chats, lots of laughs while working .
I even once sewed a button back into his shirt! He was like a son.
