William Abraham Sausmer

Dr. William A. Sausmer, passed away in his sleep on January 15, 2018 in Plano, TX at the age of 97. Bill was born in Glen Cove, NY on August 3, 1920 to David and Ida Sausmer. He graduated from Hicksville High, Allegheny College, and Middlesex Medical School. He married Pearl Strober in 1944 and they were married 73 plus years living in Jericho and East Marion. Dr. Bill practiced medicine in Hicksville for over 40 years. He served in the Army Medical Corps for 16 months during the Korean War earning two Bronze Stars. He is preceded in death by parents David and Ida Sausmer, brothers Myron and Morris Sausmer, and sister Janet Turok. Bill is survived by his wife Pearl Sausmer, daughter Barbara Glassner (William), sons James Sausmer (Susan), Michael Sausmer, Andrew Sausmer; grandchildren Matthew Sausmer, Robyn Glassner (Richard Meth), Lauren Carey (Chas), and great-granddaughter Scarlett Carey. His funeral will be Friday, January 19 at 1pm at I J Morris Funeral Home, 21 East Deer Park Rd., Dix Hills, NY 11746. phone 631-499-6060. Burial will follow at Beth Moses Cemetery.
