Ron and I worked together for many years at the National Guard Armory in Wyoming MI. He was a tireless soldier and a wonderfull person to be around on those long nights of field training. He will be sadly missed on earth, but warmly received in heaven.

Ron was such a nice man. He was good and generous to everybody. We will miss him.

Not only was this man a friend of my dad’s, he was a friend of mine. I can say he was more than a friend, I’d say family. He was kind, gentle, and outgoing.

You see he and I had a special relationship. He wasn’t known to me as Mr. Spoors or Mr. Ron or even Ron…Pork Chop. I know it’s a nickname that he already had but it was always special to me.

He would always make me smile with his goofiness. His laugh was silly to me growing up. You see my dad and he were part of the same national guard station. Our families spent many events together at the Wyoming armory. 

This man was such a part of my personal life as well. He and Johanna attended my high school graduation party, my wedding, my dad’s surprise birthday party, and other family functions. These folks are amazing. To know them is a privilege and an honor.

Pork Chop keep smiling, look down and hug Johanna as much as possible. We’ll see you again when it’s time and I expect to hear all about how you’ve been. Love and miss you lots.

One of my most precious memories of Dad was not about me and him but more about how he showed his love for my son. I was very new to the family and bought my two children with me . My son Jordan was deathly afraid of military uniforms and the very first time he saw Ron in his he ran away crying. From that moment on Ron (dad) never came home in his uniform again. He did that out of love for  my son he hardly knew. Dad  was so loving and caring and he will be forever missed in my heart.

One of my favorite memories with Grandpa and Grandma is when they took us camping. Destiny and I caught a whole bunch of fish and then we tried to clean them it didn’t work out so well. But I love that memory. I loved the time I spent with them and I will miss grandpa very much.

Jordan

As kids we shared so many adventures...our front yard never had grass because we always had one game or another tearing up the grass..Kick the Can, Red light green light...Hide and Seek...Red Rover..!  We came from an earlier generation that spent most of our times together -, teasing , fighting , making up and playing games..those memories are cherished now during our later years , we laugh with  wonder  at how we all turned out to be good caring people..Our brother had a big generous heart, and a friendly sweet soul...We will cherish the richness, joy and kindness of his soul , and love of family until we are together again..Rest in Peace our Beloved Butchie!
