Wayne R. Dial, age 84, was called home peacefully by his Lord and Savior Monday, September 11, 2023. At a young age, Wayne began his love of HAM radio; he will always be remembered by his call sign, W8AJU. This passion steered him into his career working for MICHCON/DTE as a communications engineer. Wayne was also an avid duck hunter, skeet shooter, and motorcycle enthusiast - he passed down his love for this to each of his sons and grandsons. He was recognized and honored as an honorary lifetime member of South Kent Sportsmen’s Club where he devoted much of his time. Wayne also proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves where he achieved the rank and title of Communications Staff Sgt. E6. Most importantly, he cherished his faith and he enjoyed engaging in theological and spiritual discussion with those he met and especially around the dinner table, much to the dismay and “eye-rolls” of his kids.
He will be remembered by his wife of 58 years, Beth Dial; children Renee (Tony) Yasick, Rob (Shawn) Dial, Dan (Amy) Dial, Lee Dial; grandchildren Megan (Chris), Erin, Evan, Isabelle (Hendrick), Aiden, Eyan, Kaelum, Morgan (Teagan), Samy, Dominik; great-granddaughter, Leighton; siblings Judi Ordish, Rick (Sandy) Dial; and many extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Minnie Dial.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (Dorr Chapel), 4330 18th St., Dorr, MI 49323. A private family service will be held Monday, September 18. A celebration of life will be held from 4-7 p.m. October 1, 2023 at South Kent Sportsmen’s Club, 2536 140th Ave., Dorr, MI 49323. In memory of Wayne and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hillsdale College, Holland Hospital, or Cato Institute. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.kubiakcookdorr.com.
