Betty Jean Herndon, age 83, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born February 2, 1940 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Robert and Myrtle Parker. Betty was well-respected within her family and her circle of friends. One of her favorite hobbies was to cook and entertain her many friends. In her spare time, Betty liked to play games. An avid card player, her expertise was in bridge and poker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 48 years, James G. “Jerry” Herndon; sons, Steve Herndon and Ricky Morris (Susan); daughter, Carolyn Roberts (Eddy); brothers, Newton Parker and Herbert Parker; sister, Catherine Sapp (Steve); 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Brown officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Mozley Memorial Gardens.
