Carolyn Louise Elrod, age 73, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 11, 1952, the daughter of the late Mr. Grover Gibson and Mrs. Jewell Moore Gibson.
Carolyn lived life with energy and excitement. She was a professional gambler who loved the thrill of the game and was very good at it. When she wasn’t at the casino, Carolyn enjoyed dancing and was always ready to hit the dance floor. She also loved bowling, which she enjoyed with her friends and family. Shopping was another one of her favorite things, and she had an amazing eye for finding the perfect items for herself and the people she cared about.
Carolyn was a smart and hardworking businesswoman. She co-owned Super Quick Towing in Douglasville, Georgia, and Professional Truck Towing in East Point, Georgia. She worked hard to make her businesses successful. But above all, Carolyn’s greatest joy was her family. When she wasn’t working, she was a loving mom and homemaker, creating a warm and caring home for her family. She found a perfect balance between work, fun, and family, and her love for them left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five siblings: Janet, Mary, Winford, Betty, and Melvin.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54 years, Rodney Elrod; children, Shelly Crouch and Colby Elrod; grandchildren, Payton (Brittany) Osborn, Cameron Osborn, Cason Crouch, and Caden Crouch; and great-grandchildren, Nicolas Osborn and Lyliah Osborn; and an enormous amount of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Robinson officiating.
