Donnie L. Barnes

Mr. Donnie L. Barnes, age 82, of Douglasville, GA passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016. He was born September 11, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Eleanor Martin, on March 28, 1955. He enjoyed camping, boating and fishing, and was an avid fan of NASCAR and Georgia Tech. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Douglasville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Thelma Johnson Barnes; son-in-law, Chuck Lairsey; and a brother, Bobby Barnes.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor M. Barnes; daughters, Brenda Barnes, Tracy Lairsey-Drozd and husband David; brother, Charles “C. R.” Barnes; grandchildren, Daniel Lairsey, Chris and Alex Lairsey; Bryan and Lauren Drozd, Kevin Drozd, Lauryn and Thomas Alexander; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. John Pennington, Reverend Ikey Watson and Reverend Don Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
