She was born in Harriman, TN, on November 28, 1949, the daughter of the late Mr. George Brooks and Mrs. Mattie Cates Brooks.
Dorothy was a woman of many passions and interests, deeply devoted to her family, community, and the things that brought her joy. Dorothy worked at Bellsouth/ AT&T for 49 and a half years before retiring to cherish spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play sports. A nature lover, Dorothy enjoyed birdwatching, finding peace in the simple beauty of the world around her. Music also played an important role in her life, and she delighted in playing the piano. In her younger years, she was an avid seamstress, creating many beautiful pieces by hand. Dorothy had a special fondness for Christmas movies, always enjoying the warmth and spirit they brought to the season.

She held several offices over the years and was honored to serve as Worthy Grand Matron from 2006-2007. She was a committed member of numerous committees and made lasting contributions throughout her time in the organization. From 2021 to 2024, she was honored to serve as Ambassador to Australia in the General Grand Chapter, further strengthening her legacy of service and leadership.
