Dorothy Therese Zetzsche, age 88, passed away, surrounded by family, on Monday, June 13, 2022. Dorothy was a native New Yorker, born on July 13, 1933 in the Bronx, and lived there until she was married and started raising her family in Commack, Long Island.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Pogue, her brothers, Robert, Richard and George Pogue, and her grandson, Gabriel Zetzsche. Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, John Henry Zetzsche. She leaves behind her five children, Chris (wife Wendy) Zetzsche of the Woodlands, Texas, Richard Zetzsche of Commack, New York, Robert Zetzsche (wife Karen) of Vestal, New York, John Zetzsche (wife Cindy) of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and Therese Dingle of Villa Rica, Georgia. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren: Patrick, Justin, Ryan, Olivia, Sophie, Matthew, Nicholas, Zachary and a great-granddaughter, Emmariah. A sister, Elizabeth Pogue, also survives Dorothy.
Dorothy was devoted to her Catholic faith, her family, and her Irish heritage. She enjoyed reading and took an active interest in politics. She was a patriotic American and a committed prayer warrior for her family, church, and country.
A funeral mass for Dorothy will be held Friday June 17th, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church Douglasville, Georgia. Following the funeral mass will be a burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Carrollton, Georgia.
