H. Penelope Driskell

H. Penelope Dickinson Driskell, age 95, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday morning, June 19, 2023. A Douglas County native, she was born on July 26, 1927 in Douglasville. Penelope was a 1946 graduate of Douglas County High School. A strong woman of faith, Penelope loved her Lord and enjoyed serving Him through her church. She was a long-time member of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities. She loved her family and friends, loved cooking Sunday dinner and having all of her family around the table. All of Douglas County knew her from the many years she worked as a waitress at the Rock Inn Café, as well as at several restaurants owned by Mickey Westmoreland.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ralph B. Driskell; daughter, Margaret Duck; her parents, Scott and Cora (Giles) Dickinson; four brothers, Lawrence Dickinson, Ennis Dickinson, Asbury Dickinson and Roger Dickinson; and a sister, Ora Spencer.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Laura and Tommy Hester, Pam and Carl Hendricks, and Peggy and Clay Hays; son-in-law, Terry Duck; grandchildren, Scott Hester, Andy Hester and wife Shelly, Lucretia Rainwater, Joey Rainwater and wife Lisa, Keith Rainwater and wife Stephanie, Kristy Dunbrack and husband Matt, LaShea Branton and husband Lee, Steve Nicholson and wife Katy, Randy Nicholson and wife Kate, Craig Nicholson and wife Michelle; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mack Dickinson. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and a host of friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by all who knew her.
