Mrs. Hazel H. Carey, age 95, of Douglasville, GA passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born November 30, 1919 in Dewville, TX. Mrs. Carey retired as a civil servant. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and crafts, especially sewing and crochet. Hazel was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing Bingo and Poker, going fishing and baking.
Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Beulah Mae Hurt as well as her brother, Lamar Hurt.
She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Andritsch of Douglasville, GA, Janet Collinson of Dallas, TX, and Darlene Christofferson of Colbert, GA; sister Louise Busby of San Antionio, TX; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held December 20, 2014 at 3:00 in Rosehaven Chapel at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA 30080-3862, www.lungusa.org.
