Jerry Len Folds, age 76, of Winston Georgia, passed away on May 9, 2024. He was born on August 6, 1947, in Atlanta. He was a 1965 graduate of South Cobb High School. In 1966, he joined the United States Air Force and served honorably in Vietnam. He began his career with Southern Bell in 1971 and worked as a Service Technician for 31 years. During this time, he returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Mercer University in 1988. He retired from BellSouth (formerly Southern Bell) in 2003 and worked briefly in electrical and general construction after retirement.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Stell) Folds, and father, Ray Folds; brother, Kenneth Folds; brother-in-law, Dwight Fowler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Frances Giles.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 47 years, Elaine Folds; and his four children and their families, Michael (Mona) Folds of Woodland, AL, Stacey (Jennifer) Folds of Waco, GA, Kelley (Barbara) Folds of Bremen, GA, and Heather (Michael) Nantz of Villa Rica, GA; Ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Gloria Fowler; and his brother, Lamar (Linda) Folds.
Jerry was deeply beloved and known by many titles: husband, Dad, Daddy, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend. While many feel a great loss, we as a family have lost our hero. He was our handyman who would help us any time we asked, our tax preparer, our math tutor who tried unsuccessfully not to get frustrated teaching us long division, our political commentator, resident chocoholic, and storyteller. But most of all, he was a follower of Jesus Christ. He was a servant often behind the scenes, and faithful to always point his family toward the Lord. Our memories of him sitting on the front porch talking, laughing, singing, and enjoying a good cup of coffee will always remain in our hearts.
While we grieve our loss, we are thankful for the time we had. In September of 2021, Dad was almost taken from us when he was diagnosed with a brain infection. He survived almost three more years, but was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, which ultimately led to his passing. We are grateful for the three years the Lord graciously gave us as we experienced a few more years of holidays, birthdays, Sunday dinners, living room prayers, and hearing him tell us, “I love you, and be careful.” We will forever be grateful to our Heavenly Father for giving us just a little more time to have Dad here with us. And we rejoice in knowing that one day, we will be reunited together again.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. Billy Godwin and Pastor Ric Blazi officiating.
