

May 9, 1915 - December 21,,2OI4 Born in Lansdowne, PA. Joan was the only child of John Dunn and Fannie Mary Golding Dunn. She was raised in Westchester County, NY and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, NyC. Later Joan was a professional secretary on Wall street before marrying Harvey A. Call June 27,1940. They lived many years in White plains, NY raising their two children.The Calls moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1954, settling in Ft. Lauderdale and later in Pompano Beach.
Joan was very active in the original PTA for Stranahan High School from 1954 to 1960, Broward County League of Women Voters, and various garden clubs. She also held jobs for a construction company and the original Ft. Lauderdale Burdine's department store on Andrews Avenue.
Harvey Call was employed by the Gore Newspapers, owners of The Ft. Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel,where he became the first Editor of Sun-sentinel in 1958. The newspapers were later purchased by The Tribune Company, where Mr. Call served until retirement in 1975.
The Calls retired to Ocala, FL where Joan became very active in Pioneer Garden Club and First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her new friends in Ocala and her active participation and many ribbon wins in garden and flower shows. She was proud of her presentations on butterfly gardens.
Joan moved to Kennesaw, GA in 2005. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey in 1995, granddaughter, Kimberly Lynn MacNair in 1979, and daughter-in-law Gayle B. Call in 2009.
Joan is survived by son, John Christopher Call of Marietta, GA, daughter Constance Kukulski (husband, Ron) of Port St. Lucie, FL, grandsons Jeff Call, Atlanta, Steven Call, Suwannee, Brian Call, Marietta, GA. and Scott MacNair (Karoline) of Alameda, CA. Joan also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Call, Nicholas Call, and Scott MacNair, Jr.
The family would like to thank the wonderful, professional staff of Ross Memorial Health Care Center for providing a caring and comfortable environment for Joan these past three years.
