Johnny A. “Bud” Shepherd, age 84, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born in Villa Rica, Georgia on June 23, 1937, the son of the late Erastus Adoulphus Ralph Shepherd and the late Myrtle Mae Couch Shepherd. Bud served as a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army. He retired from Miller-Zell as an electrician. He was a Baptist by faith.
Bud thoroughly enjoyed Bingo and a good casino. He enjoyed fishing (especially trout); watching Wheel of Fortune and WWE Wrestling; and Martin’s sausage biscuits. His love for his family was evident every day as he would spend as much time with his kids and grandkids as possible. Bud always had a good story to tell. His attention to detail was unmatched! He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Bud was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Charlotte Reece Shepherd; siblings: Kathryn Keith, Mae Williams Keith, Jean Henson, Janice Hackney, Dorothy Clay, Linda Emory, Dura Ann Jerriel, James Shepherd, Junior Shepherd, Danny Shepherd and Donald Shepherd.
Bud is survived by his children, Johnny Alan (Kim) Shepherd, Rebecca Dawn Worcester, Kristy Leann (Robert “Joe”) Kelley, and Shelly Diane Davis; siblings, Ronald (Mazie) Shepherd, Betty Lumpkin, and Rita (Randy) Smith; grandchildren: Kimberly (Marcus) Walling, Kevin Worcester, Heather (Todd) McElroy, Holly Shepherd, Wesley Shepherd, Ryan Shepherd, and Justin (Emily) Davis; great grandchildren: Aubrey Worcester, Colton Stokes, Raylan Walling, Lincoln Davis and Alayna McElroy; brother-in-law, Thomas Keith; sister-in-law, Joan Thornton Shepherd; his Bingo buddy, Marie Goddard; nieces and nephews too numerous to name; and, his beloved dog, Gizmo.
