

Joycelyn Jasmin McCoy, age 82 of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Joycelyn was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, on March 3, 1940, the daughter of the late Reynold McCoy and Fedora Jones McCoy. She immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, in 1967 and held several domestic jobs. She eventually secured a position with Brookdale Hospital as a nurse's aide and retired after 22 years of loyal service. Joycelyn enjoyed traveling around the world, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a woman of deep faith and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to remind everyone that "God is love."
Joycelyn is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Kaysher Samuel, David, and Arlene Samuel; daughter, Cherrie Ann Jackson; brother, Kenneth McCoy; sister, Elva McCoy; grandchildren, Bryan Samuel, Candice Samuel, Kedianne James, Kristen Turner, Andrew Jackson, and Amari Samuel; great-grandchildren, Olivia Townsend, Bryson Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip Ruthford Cox, Ureal Ambrose, and Roland McCoy.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel.
