Hello, I am one of Mrs Howard’s students. I would like to say she was a very great teacher, and she is dearly missed to this day.

I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's death. She was my college roommate & bridesmaid in my wedding. She was a kind & patient friend and I regret losing touch with her.

Hello I am Karin Kusi.  I am a former student of Ms. Howard, she used to be my kindergarten teacher and she was amazing at it. She helped me all the time, but not just with school she helped me with my feelings and more. She even used to teach my other 2 sisters when I told them the news they were very shocked and sorrowful you could just tell by their body language and the way that they looked when I told them.  I'm also very upset that she will not see me when I graduate high school, but I also know there is nothing I can do about it. Though not long ago I graduated 5th grade and I know she was looking down on me I hope I made her proud. I love you Ms. Howard and I will never forget you.

I'm in 3 grade this year my teacher was suppose to be my teacher but because she died .I was really sad when I found out I hope she's happy in heaven.

Kathy & I team taught together for many years at the Star. She was a beautiful example of God’s work in action & I will miss her greatly. She loved teaching & she loved her family! I treasure all of the stories she shared throughout the years of her time with her family! She truly loved you all so much! I pray for you to have peace in knowing how much you were loved! 

One of my favorite teachers during my time at Bright Star, as I navigate through my first year in education I will remember the way Ms. Howard was caring and  loved every student she encountered. I will do my best to try to model those same qualities. Ms. Howard you will be missed greatly. 

Our most sincere condolences to Kathy's family.  "Ms. Howard" taught two of our children at Bright Star Elementary School.  From a parent's perspective, she was a kind and wonderful teacher.  Each time we would see her out and about she would always check-in with our family to see how our boys were doing after they had graduated.   As a colleague, she was always very insightful and caring in nature.  She will be missed by so many.  We pray that she is at peace with our Lord.

Sincere condolenses to the family and friends. Ms. Howard was my daughter's 3rd-grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. A year where so many changes took place and she did an amazing job navigating through the new world of virtual learning. She was so kind, attentive, and pushed the students to do their best! My daughter was blessed to have her as a teacher and I am grateful she was able to experience being her student. She was extremely sad when I told her the news, but she was grateful to have been able to be in her presence. 

My sincere condolences to the family. Kathy was a kind affectionate,thoughtful,helpful co-worker/teacher. Though physically gone from this earth her presence will forever be felt.

My dear friend Kathy.  I will always remember your kind heart and sweet spirit.  Kathy was genuine and treated everyone the way she wanted to be treated.  She was very giving and gave from the heart.   I enjoyed working with Kathy and will cherish the moments I spent with her.  

Kathy was just an incredible human being. Kathy was my mentor teacher when I first began teaching at Bright Star Elementary 15 years ago. She was one of my son’s third grade teacher. She had nothing but kind things to say about everyone. Kathy and I always joked about how we were the last ones to finish our report cards but we’d be there ‘together’ and walked out the door together on many occasions after completing our work. I will miss her kind spirit, her little giggle, her whispers in my ear,  and her stern look when she “meant business” with the kiddos. She was truly our sunshine at Bright Star. My family and I will always remember her genuine love for the people around her. And if you never met Kathy, you missed meeting a truly amazing person. We love you Kathy. 

First I want to say my condolences to the family.  She was a part of the Bright Star family and will be missed dearly. I have had the pleasure of working with Kathy for over 20 years. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to step in and help anywhere there was a need. She had such a kind heart and she absolutely loved teaching and she loved her students dearly.  You are walking in the light and we all will see you one day soon. May God bless your family. 

     I worked with Kathy for 15 years at The Star, during which time  I was afforded the honor of coteaching with her many, many times.  I got to see first hand what a brilliant teacher she was. She could teach any child at any level of learning, from struggling students with identified disabilities to those with the highest level of ability.  She was always patient, kind and fairminded.  Although, she was never afraid to dish out a little bit of "tough love" when needed.  While we shared many students over the years, she also taught both of my own children.  They remember her fondly as an excellent and fun teacher.  My now grown son's favorite memory was of her reading out loud from chapter books and getting tickled at the "funny parts."
       Kathy was always the first to offer help where needed and never failed to cheer someone up when they were feeling down.   She was a true blue friend and I will cherish my memories of her forever.

I wanted to express my deepest Condolences to the family and friends of Kathy. In 2019 we had an honor at work to have a duty free lunch and it was there each day for nearly a year that I got to know Kathy. We often made each other laugh as we traded humorous teacher situations. I looked forward to sharing my lunch break with her and one thing was clear she was dedicated to her students.  She will be missed dearly. Praying for comfort and strength through beautiful memories.

I had the pleasure to teach with Kathy for 12 years at the Star.   Kathy had the gift to extend patience further than three average teachers combined.  She strive tirelessly to ensure her students could grasp the concepts she was teaching.  She was so nice and genuine to all staff members.  You will be and are missed Kathy Howard!

Kathy and I met when I first transferred to Bright Star. She was so welcoming and kind. I then had the wonderful opportunity to work as an ELA Representative for our school with Kathy. I loved getting to know her better and see her passion for teaching and her students. I always treasured our after school talks when she would sometimes have to remind me to go home to my boys. I will truly miss having her as a friend and confidant. The world lost a shining star, but heaven has definitely gained an angel. Rest in love and light.

I had the pleasure of working with Kathy for 21yrs. She is one of  the sweetest people I know. I have so many great memories…
She often helped me with Black History rehearsals during the month of February. She would also volunteer to chaperone at Chorus performances on the weekend. 
I treasure the times we would hangout outside of school especially in my earlier years at Bright Star. 
She was a fantastic teacher that loved her students unconditionally and with consistent optimism. She taught me not too give up on the most difficult children I encountered.
You will Truly be missed and Thank You for the lasting Imprint you made on us all.

Kathy was one of the most precious people I have ever known. She was a wonderful teacher, and she was so patient and kind. Bright Star Elementary will not be the same without her loving smile. So many families, students and colleagues love her and will miss her beyond measure. 💙⭐️ 

I wanted to express my condolences to Ms. Howard’s family and friends. I had the joy of working with her one year at Bright Star, and it was clear that she was a kind and dedicated teacher. It was obvious she was passionate about her students’ success. I know her passing will leave a void that simply cannot be filled. Keeping those who were close to her in my thoughts.

You will truly be missed.  You were one of the first teachers to personally welcome me to BSES.  You were also very thoughtful by ensuring that your “students” gave me gift cards during the holidays.  I’ve been rewatching the video of you and your students singing me happy birthday this past January. Such a sweet soul. Rest in heaven, Kathy. 

First, let me give my sincerest condolences to Kathy's close family and friends for her sudden passing. She is my wife Julie Cotton's cousin. I will always remember her for the thoughtful kindness she showed our family when she realized we were having our first child. On behalf of my family, you will be missed. Please rest in peace.
