Malinda Sutton McLeod, age 68, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, March 28, 2022. She was born June 26, 1953 in Albany, Georgia. Malinda was a graduate of Valdosta State College with a degree in music education, majoring in piano. She shared her love of piano through becoming a piano teacher. Malinda was a loving, caring person and a fierce advocate for all whom she cared. She loved her church and served as a pianist for Douglasville First United Methodist Church for many years. She also sang in the adult choir, played the handbells, and led the children’s choir. For fun, Malinda loved to travel, with her favorite destinations being Bahama Islands and Yosemite in California. She was an avid tennis player, and a member of ALTA where her team held championship status. In her spare time, Malinda loved to read, enjoying the science fiction genre. She adored animals—her pets were her children. She had raised and shown Setters in the championship arena.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harian and Mary Alice (Buckles) Sutton; and sisters, Sonia Holcombe, Hazel Brown and Nelia Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 47 years, Larry W. McLeod; stepchildren, Pamela Pridgen and Larry Wayne McLeod, Jr.; four grandchildren, Brooklyn Daniel, Rachel Frisbie, Sommer Pridgen and Samantha Joiner; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn Daniel and Nora Daniel; nieces, Alicia Tilden, Tiffany Leahy, Katherine Fisher and Denise Hews; as well as numerous other loved ones, family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Douglasville First United Methodist Church, 6167 Prestley Mill Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134, on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at the church at 2:00 PM with Reverend Scott Brown officiating.
