

Mr. Ralph Isaac McKennon, age 95, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, January 25, 2016. He was born July 3, 1920 in Altus, AR. Mr. McKennon served during WWII, was stationed in Japan and Germany as well as numerous other bases and retired from the United States Army. He served directly under General MacArthur as his communications NCO. He was responsible for the maintenance and repair of the missiles during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He earned two bronze stars for his duty in Rhineland, Germany. He also traveled the country teaching new technology for the radio teletype earning him a picture in the Signal Corps Museum. Ralph enjoyed fishing and was very good at it, always catching something. He had a very scientific mind, enjoyed talking and baseball. Mr. McKennon was a member of the Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner and active church member.
Preceding him death are his parents, Thomas and Pearl McKennon as well as two sisters, Inez McKennon and Lois Wright.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Helen McKennon of Douglasville, GA; son and daughter-in-law William and Connie McKennon of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren Jason McKennon and Katherine Ford of Smyrna, GA; Kathryn McKennon of Douglasville, GA; great-grandchild Payton McKennon of Temple, GA and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6 until 8 o’clock pm. A funeral will be held in the Rosehaven Chapel on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2 o'clock pm. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Garden.
