Mr. Richard Douglas "Doug" Head, age 72, of Villa Rica, Georgia, died Tuesday afternoon at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. A native of Buford, Georgia, Mr. Head was born on August 21, 1943, the son of the late Charlie Franklin Head and Ruby Johnson Head. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Head was employed with United Technology as a computer engineer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Head.
Survivors include his wfe, Mrs.Doris Sanders; Step-daughters, Brenda Roberts of Whitesburg and Rebecca Estes of Lithia Springs; Step-sons; Richard Gary Dawkins of Williamsburg, SC and Don Dawkins of Bremen, GA; One sister, Mary Shortman of Brunswick, GA. Granddaughter, April Beck and grandson, Kevin along with a host of other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Head will be conducted on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 4 p.m. from the Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley - Garner Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin McKoy officiating. Burial wth military honors will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
