Richard Leon Thackston

Mr. Richard Leon Thackson, age 68, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020. He was born May 9, 1952 in Clarkdale, Georgia. A very loving man, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. When he was not spending time with his family, he enjoyed fishing. A history buff, he had a passion for archaeology and researching history. He was an incredibly talented artist and enjoyed working with the media of acrylics and watercolors.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Anderson Leon and Opal Mealer Thackston; son, Austin Levi Thackston; and brother, Danny Thackston.

Mr. Thackston is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Sandra Thackston; son, Richard Benjamin Thackston; daughter, Michelle Nails; grandchildren, Mackenzie Nails, Madelyn Nails, Mason Nails and Maxwell Nails; brothers, Robert (Jeannie) Thackston and Tim (Cathy) Thackston; sister, Joy (Doug) Haley; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, 8640 Rose Ave, Douglasville, Georgia
