

Ruby was born in Fruithurst, Alabama on November, 18, 1944 the daughter of the late John Thomas “J.T.” Pruitt and Ola Hicks Pruitt. She had worked for thirty five years as an accountant/bookkeeper for Gold Kist Company prior to her retirement. In her younger years she spent time bowling with her friends. Carol had a love for traveling and enjoyed time spent in the mountains. She enjoyed time spent in her home cooking for her family and friends. Carol’s faith was strong and she was a founding member of Westview Baptist Church. She loved gospel music, Elvis Presley and watching her favorite TV programs, The Price Is Right and Dancing With The Stars. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, Gracie, Daniel and Brady.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Renalda Brackin of fifty six years, daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Brackin, Kellie and Marcelo Chaves, grandchildren, Gracie Chaves, Daniel Chaves, Brady Chaves; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iver and Johnny Sheffield, Betty and Wayne Williamson; sisters-in-law, Priscilla (John) Cheek and Pat Moore. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Pruitt, Robert Pruitt, and Roy Pruitt.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in Rosehaven Chapel.
The interment will follow at Rosehaven Cemetery with Daniel Chaves, Keith Brackin, Carson Hucks, Brady Chaves, Maddox Brackin and Marcelo Chaves serving as pallbearers.
