Tommy Louis Thornton, age 79, of Douglasville, Georgia, formerly of Conyers, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. A native of Atlanta, he was was a 1961 graduate of West Fulton High School. Tommy never met a stranger and was always up for winning a game of Dominoes. He was retired and his favorite pastime was going to all his grandsons’ games – he was their #1 fan. Tommy was a member of Crosspoint Christian Church in Conyers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.L. and Grace (Lemon) Thornton; and his brother, Charles Thornton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 44 years, Barbara Thornton; daughter, Melissa Bannister; son, Scott Thornton (Karmen); his grandsons, Samuel Bannister, Alex Thornton and Jacob Thornton; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor Curt Zehner officiating.
