Wayland L. Martin

Mr. Wayland Lindbergh Martin, age 87, of Lithia Springs, GA, formerly of Douglasville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born March 26, 1927 in Tredway, TX. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country during WWII. Mr. Martin retired from Delta Airlines with over 41 years of service. He bought his home in Douglasville in 1976, attended Austell Christian Church for many years and was Methodist by Faith. He was a very organized person and was an avid runner and walker, logging over 28, 000 miles from 1969 until 2000, and over 11,000 miles from 2000 to present.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Jesse Martin; his parents, Thomas E. and Coralee Willis Martin; brothers, Ralph Martin and Wilbert Martin; sister, Louise Good; and grandson, Chris Langlois.

He is survived by his wife, Norma C. Martin; daughter, Pamela M. Altomare and husband Ronald; step-son, Russell Cook and wife Rhonda; brother, Herbert Martin; sister, Mozelle Sanders; grandchildren, Michelle, Josh and Jamie; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Minister Clay Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
