

Born in DuBois on December 12, 1923, he was a son of the late Clyde and Blanche (Johnston) Askey.
Blair was a United States Army veteran and served in Central Europe during WWII in the 326th Glider Infantry.
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and liked to fish and hunt. He loved tending to the farm and his animals.
Blair is survived by two children: Daniel (Eileen) Askey of Rochester, NY and Patricia (Joe) Mazzarella of Perry, NY; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister; Twila Blommen of DuBois.
Blair is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen M. (Ritz) Askey whom he married in Penn Twp. on March 28, 1944 and who passed away on July 21, 1988; two brothers, Harry and Floyd Askey; and a sister, Lillian Lee.
Friends will be received at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. John White officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
