

Elizabeth Mae Phillips LaBorde, 88, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Christ the King Manor. She was born April 2, 1924, in DuBois, the daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina(Heilbrun) Phillips.
Elizabeth was a loving mother of eight children and survived by four sons: Edward of DuBois, Ray and his wife Diana of Florida, James of DuBois, and Craig and his wife Darlene of Virginia; two daughters: Susan and her husband Henry Delarme of Reynoldsville and Janet Krapf of DuBois; eleven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
When young, she worked at Sylvania in Brookville and enjoyed roller skating, was later an Avon representative, and also worked for Kennedy Transfer. She loved children, her houseplants, and her flower beds outside. She was kind and loving to all and made the best raisin-filled cookies and Easter eggs. She was a member of United Church of Christ, which is the church she attended as a child.
She was preceded in death by her husband James B. LaBorde, her daughter Joanne and her son Michael. Elizabeth was the last member of her family and was preceded in death by four brothers: George, Mal, Miles and Robert, and four sisters: Clara Ord, Kay Suthard, Marjory Shenkle, and Irene Pierce.
Friends will be received on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Newell officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
