

Born January 1916 in DuBois, she was a daughter of the late Howard Raymond Lucore and Martha Dunlop Beveridge. She was married July 10, 1938 to the late James (Ike) Sykes.
She graduated from Sandy Township High School (1933). She worked over 32 years in various business positions concluding with her career as No. 1 People Greeter for WalMart.
Florence, a genealogist of note, traced the Lucore line to 847 AD. She also conducted local genealogy classes.
Florence was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many callings, including President of the Women’s Relief Society, and Public Communications Director for the DuBois District
As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she held many offices including Chapter Regent and Pennsylvania State Officer as North Central Director.
Florence was awarded a certificate of recognition signed by President Harry Truman for her meritorious service as a Red Cross volunteer during WW II.
Florence is survived by daughter, Judy, DuBois; sons Jim and his wife Linda, VA and Jeff and his wife Debra, Curwensville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Martha (Bosch) Lucore, Puerto Rico; and brother, Col. James Lucore, VA.
Florence was also preceded in death by brothers John and Russell; twin infant brothers; one sister Jean Price and infant great-grandson.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
