Laura Mae Jones

Born on November 8, 1924 in Big Run, PA, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Laura H. (Yohe) Brooks. She married Carroll E. Jones on August 8, 1942 in Maryland Line, MD. He survives.

Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Big Run High School and had attended Thompson Business College. She had worked for B.F. Goodrich and Penn Traffic Department Store.

She was member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois where she was active in the Bereans and the Rebekah Circle. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and she loved her family.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by six children: Michael E. (Jackie) Jones of Danville, VA, Laura Carol (Edward) Kopp of State College, PA, Christopher Bruce (Cheryl) Jones of Coshocton, OH, Alan Lee (Joyce) Jones of Pittsburgh, PA, Glenn Frederick (Suzi) Jones of Oxford, NC, and Janet Patricia (Stan) Neeper of DuBois; fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Bernice Weber of Grove City, PA, and Jean Wilson of DuBois, PA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters: Margaret Ishman, Erma Winters, Pearl Ansert, Clifford Brooks, Roy Brooks, George Brooks, and Bessie Schmidt.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc.with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the hour of services.
