

Born on May 13, 1917 in Driftwood, PA the son of the late Parmer and Jessie (Harman) Boyer.
He was a graduate of DuBois Area High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Bill was the owner of Boyer Coal Company.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Garfield lodge #559, Coudersport Consistory 32nd degree Mason and the American Legion. He enjoyed dancing with his wife of 68 years and going to legion dinners with the “over the hill gang”.
He is survived by his two daughters: Lindsay Ford of Frederick, MD and Kim and her husband Lance Hoover-Pifer of DuBois; five grandchildren: Rebecca, Aaron, Nicole, Cori and Ian; eight great grandchildren and one due in July: Phil, Henry, Stanford, Abby, Elizabeth, Ava, Lyla and Christian and one great great granddaughter: Violet June.
Bill spent the last years at home where he was cared for by his granddaughter, Cori her boyfriend Ian M. Williams and great grandson Christian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Paydock) Boyer, his one and only love and two sisters: Olive McElhatten and Marjorie Campbell.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Moheny Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. a masonic memorial service will be held 7pm by the Garfield Lodge #559 F. & A.M.
An additional hour of viewing will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, March 29, at Lakeside United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 10:30am, with Rev. Robert Zilhaver officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
