

Bernard Anthony Furry, age 85, formerly of Bucyrus, has resided in Powell, Ohio, for the past three years, passed away, at Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio, on December 29, 2023, after a courageous battle of Lewy Body Dementia. Bernard was born December 7, 1938, to the late Theon S. and Caroline (Dominic) Furry in Mansfield, Ohio. Bernard married Karen Crokie November 24, 1961, sharing their love and commitment to each other for 62 years. Including his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Sandy Furry, brothers-in-law Roger and Russell Crokie, sister-in-law Louann Crokie and daughter-in-law Susan Furry.
Bernard is survived by his wife Karen (Crokie) Furry, son Mark (Laura) Furry, Newark, OH, and Kenneth (John) Furry-Mongold, Powell, OH. Grandchildren, Dominic Furry, Los Angeles, CA, Addaley (Michael) Maitland, Caledonia, OH, Garrett (Anna) Furry, Denver, CO, Tyler (Jessica) Furry, Bucyrus, OH, Hannah (Brandon) Wise, Tiffin, OH, Carolann (Timothy) Parsons, Athens, OH, and Amorette Davis, Hilliard, OH. Great-grandchildren, Haley Kinsey, Adalyn Stitzlein, Camden Kinsey, Collin Furry, Brock Furry, Waylen Maitland, Ellie, Bryan and Anna Davis. Sister-in-law, Kathleen (Michael) Seffernick, Bucyrus, OH and brother-in-law Gabriel Crokie Jr., Steubenville, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernard worked at Hallmark Dental Lab, Mansfield, Ohio, as a lab technician, until his marriage, moving to Bucyrus and working at Swan Rubber until 1965, retiring from Komatsu Dresser of Galion after 30 years of service, in 1995. Known to many at Komatsu as “Pinky.”
Bernard enjoyed his special dogs Molly and Callie, spending time with family, friends and was a fan of Ohio State, Clevland Browns and the Guardians.
Bernard was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 65 years, where he served as elder for many years. He valued his faith in the Bible teachings and witnessing work.
Funeral services will be at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, OH 43017 at 3 :00 p.m., Saturday, January 6, with Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. David Kieffer officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, Ohio, at a later time.
