Betty was born on August 10, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio to the late August and Elizabeth (Grener) Weber. She graduated from Upper Arlington High School in1943 and The Ohio State University in 1948 where she met her husband, Donald, a decorated war veteran of WWII and fellow Ohio State Graduate. Betty and Donald were married on December 16, 1948 and were deeply devoted to each other for 51years until Donald’s passing from an Alzheimer condition in 1999.
Betty was a very bright and witty individual, knowledgeable on so many levels, yet humble and honorable, always giving of her time and love, providing great wisdom and sound perspectives. She was a dedicated homemaker and provided her family a safe and loving place to flourish as individuals. When the nest was empty, Betty went to work at Kraft Foods in Consumer Services. She took on her husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis (a time when little was known about the illness) with great fortitude and spent her next 20 years dedicated to nurturing her beloved Donald through all phases of the progressive disease.
Betty enjoyed traveling in her later years, taking trips abroad and cruising the seas. Some special voyages were with her older sisters Emily and Bonnie and daughter Judy traveling through the Caribbean as well as an Alaskan cruise (a bucket list accomplishment) with her children Judy & Larry. She was an avid Scrabble player and built of legacy of love for the game in her children. She dearly loved her grandchildren; always inquisitive to their interests and proud of their accomplishments.
Betty is survived by her four children: Jim (Bonnie) Cotter of Kansas City, KS; Greg, Judy and Larry Cotter all from Chicago, IL and grandchildren: Laura and John Cotter, Brennan, Kelsey and Shauna Terhune-Cotter; Bobby (Laryssa) Parks, Laura (Steve) Davis, Kelli (Kevin) Fuester; and great grandchildren: Katherine and Ben Davis, Landon and Emma Fuester and Chloe Parks.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio on Friday, March 10, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9-11am followed by a funeral service starting at 11am, immediately followed by a gathering with family from 12-1:30pm.
