Kathleen Ann Gallant passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Columbus and lived there most of her life. In her later years, she lived in Mansfield, Ohio, to be near her son and his family.
Kathleen received a Bachelor’s of General Studies degree in the areas of design, textiles, and business from Ohio University, and a Master’s of Science in Textiles and Clothing degree from The Ohio State University. She completed extensive doctoral studies in Textiles and Clothing Management at Ohio State while serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
In partnership with her mother, Kathleen co-owned and managed The Cloth Collection, an upscale fabric store in Worthington, Ohio, for nearly a dozen years. The Cloth Collection provided exquisite fabrics and accessories, a wide range of classes, and a welcoming haven for seamstresses across central Ohio. After completing her studies at Ohio State, she began the most rewarding chapter of her career as Field Work Coordinator for the Department of Consumer and Textile Services at Ohio State. In this role she successfully guided hundreds of students through the transition from academia to the real world through the practical training programs and internships she developed and coordinated. These programs gave students hands-on experience with retail merchandising, fashion, and interior design with many of the country’s top brands.
Kathleen’s creativity manifested itself in many ways throughout her life. When she retired, Kathleen launched a hand-crafted jewelry business with her dear friend Stefanie. For nearly a decade, they created and sold beautiful jewelry that showcased Kathleen’s skills using a wide range of mediums. Those who were fortunate enough to receive a piece of her needlework regaled the impressive design, detail, and craftsmanship of her work. Most important to Kathleen, though, were her family and friends, and her creativity was often on full display as she related family stories to younger generations.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Kevin Kellenberger, and daughter, Colleen Kellenberger (Geoffrey Feld); granddaughters Ava (Kevin), Mira, and Sophie (Colleen); brothers John Gallant (Mary), Bill Gallant (Lisa), and Ken Gallant (Sally); sisters Paula Bertino and Mary Beth Gallant; close friend Stefanie, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Bertrand and Anna Mary (Cullinan) Gallant and her brother-in-law Cosmo Bertino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Kathleen at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, Ohio. There will be a calling hour at St. Brigid from 10:00 a.m. prior to mass. Kathleen will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Lewis Center, Ohio. Following the burial, family and friends are welcome to join a celebration of life reception in her honor at Dublin Retirement Village, 3rd floor multipurpose room, 6470 Post Road, Dublin, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local arts center in Kathleen’s memory or to the charity of your choice.
