Richard Crumley died peacefully Sunday, February 16. He is a proud graduate of Holy Family High School and had a 41-year career at Big Bear. Preceded in death by parents Richard and Angela, sisters Rose and Dee, and granddaughter Kristin. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Linda; children Brenda (Kristin) Crumley-Gorman and her children Conner, Samantha, and Didi; Bonnie (Bulent) Aybar and her children Sara (Taylor) St Germain, and Daniel; Barbara (Steve) Ebright and their son Jacob (fiancée Emily Leatherman) Ebright; Brian (Kim) Crumley and their son Austin; brother Gary (Barbara) Crumley, and great-grandchild Gabriel St Germain. Richard was a devoted and loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather. A man of many talents and the pursuit of excellence in all that he did. Some of his favorite hats included his carpentry hat in which he helped re-imagine and improve his own and families’ homes. The grandchildren would remember his captain’s hat during boating and fishing trips at the Crumley compound at Buckeye Lake. There was always room on his lap for one of them while he sat in his big white chair at the lake. One of his loudest hats had him cheering on his Reds, Bengals, and Buckeyes. He wore his most relaxed hat while doing his much-loved landscaping. The grandchildren fondly remember him as he prepared their favorites: papa pot roast, pigs in a blanket, papa pickles, and endless Christmas cookies. Richard loved all-things Christmas and enjoyed the magic of Christmas throughout the year while watching his favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, even in July. Family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 584 W. Broad St. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his name to Holy Family Food Pantry, 584 W. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43215.
