Rosa Hermosilla was born in Sorbas, Spain on October 4th, 1939. She married the love of her life, Frank Hermosilla, Jr. on June 27th, 1960, and immigrated to the United States later that year. They were married for 35 years until Frank passed away in 1996. She loved the United States and lived the American dream with Frank in Mannington, West Virginia. She loved this country and its way of life.
She and Frank had three wonderful children, Rose Maria (Doug) Swearingen, Frank Michael (Mary) Hermosilla, and Mary Frances (Scott) Curtis. She co-owned and operated Frank Hermosilla’s Men's and Boy's Wear for many years in Mannington, with Frank, where she was a seamstress and managed the ladies’ department. She and Frank would later own and operate Rosa’s World of Fine Foods also in Mannington. She was a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Frank and Rosa moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1989 where their three children lived with their families. Rosa worked for World Book and Chase Bank until she retired.
Rosa adored her grandchildren, DJ (Angie), Amanda (James), Anna (Blaine), Maria, Sarah, Annelisa, Brock, Nicholas, Sophia, Francesca and her seven great-grandchildren, Mary Clare, Teresa, Catherine, Gordon and Rosalie who all affectionately called her “Ita."
Rosa loved Christ, His Holy Mother Mary, and the Catholic faith. She loved the Sacraments and prayed the Rosary daily. She passed her faith on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The way she embraced life’s blessings, sufferings, and challenges with courage and grace were an example to many. When she passed, we believe that she heard the words from Christ that we all hope to hear at the end of our lives, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Rosa Perez, her brother, Francisco (Encarna), and loving in-laws Frank Sr. (Rosalie) Hermosilla. She is survived by her remaining siblings, Maria, Rafaela (Pepin), Angelita, Jose Miguel (Encarna) as well as many nieces and nephews that live in Spain. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Mary Frances (Joseph) Hawkins, nephew Joey (Roberta) Hawkins, and niece Romina (Francisco) Felix.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to The Grand of Dublin and National Church Residences for the care provided to Rosa over the last three years.
