Susan (Spotts) Caron was born February 17, 1933 in Canton, Ohio. and she entered Heaven on May 24, 2022 from Marietta, Georgia. She led a very full life, mostly focused on her husband and three daughters, five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Throughout her life, she was a dedicated Catholic, being a great friend to all she met and charming many with her various talents. Susan was a proud graduate of Central Catholic which she attended with many lifelong friends. She loved Canton, friendships and family, especially her brother Rod.
When she married Joseph Caron in 1957, her life changed dramatically as they soon were transferred to Boston, MA. Susan did not want to leave Canton but quickly realized there were many more places to see and people to know outside of the small town she had left. They lived in Framingham, MA for several years where they started their family. Susan is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Caron (David Wood ) of Rockport, MA, Jody Caron (Michael Gould) of Dublin, OH and Cari Roman (Joe Roman) of Marietta, GA.
After 10-plus years of east coast living, Susan, Joe and their girls moved to Atlanta, GA (Sandy Springs) when the South was just beginning to grow. They made many wonderful friends and enjoyed the excitement and weather of Atlanta, but their time there was short due to another transfer and within three years, the family moved back to Canton, OH. This was a necessary career move for them, but neither really wanted to return, because they loved life in the South.
Susan spent much of her time as a volunteer for various organizations, enjoying activities at Brookside Country Club, playing tennis, aerobic dancing, caring for her animals and making their house a home.
She was a very kind and thoughtful mom, always involved in her girls' lives. Being a mom was what made her most proud. After many years of travel to Columbus, Rockport and Marietta, she and Joe relocated to Columbus to be closer to family. They spent over ten years there making wonderful friends, spending time with grandchildren and traveling. Soon after Joe passed away in 2016, Susan returned to Atlanta where she spent her last years enjoying the sunshine and admiring her grandchildren.
Susan was blessed with five grandchildren who were the highlight of her life during her later years – Collin Joseph Caron Buchanan (Hailey Harmon) of St. Louis, MO, Brooke Ann Caron Buchanan of Dublin, OH, Ariel Elizabeth of New York, NY, Charlotte Kathleen and Grant Holleran Roman of Marietta, GA. These grandchildren made Susan's life full as she watched them grow up. She adored each one in their own way, just as she adored her three daughters. Susan also has two great granddaughters (Franklyn and Violet Buchanan) who made her smile many times during the last years of her life.
She will be dearly missed by her family, but now she will be watching from Heaven and loving them as she did in life. We love you Mom and always will until we see you again!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 11:30 a.m. Those wishing to contribute flowers can send them on July 2 to Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, OH, 43035.
