Varden ‘Mac’ McAlpine, age 91, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 23 surrounded by family. Born in Akron, Ohio, Mac graduated from Mogadore High School and joined the Navy in 1951. After 3 years of service in the U.S. Navy at U.S. Naval Air Station Mayport, Mac attended Kent State University where he earned a business degree. Mac retired from Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation, formerly Goodyear Aerospace, in 1991 after a 24-year career in contract administration. Mac returned to Ohio in 2021 after 24 years in Scottsdale, Arizona.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Chris) Rankin and Laura (Carl) Coles, grandchildren Brittany, Benjamin, Ian, Samuel (Samantha), and Claire, and his great-granddaughter Mia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Clarice, and his wife Nancy Lee (Rupert).
A private family memorial service will be held in Scottsdale, AZ on January 4, 2025.
