William “Bill” Joseph Roble, 77, passed away on January 28, 2024. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Joseph and Sophie (nee Legatuk) Roble on November 4, 1946. Bill grew up in Youngstown and graduated from Poland High School in 1964. He then attended and earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Youngstown State. Bill served his country in the U. S. Air Force for four years, which his granddaughter, Emma, proudly celebrates each Veteran’s Day.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Jane, on June 28, 1969. They’ve had a beautiful marriage, lasting 54 wonderful years. They raised two loving daughters, Sharon and Laura, whom they’ve gotten to live close to these last few years. Bill was an incredible OSU fan, never missing a football game and an avid golfer until he was physically unable to do so. He also enjoyed reading and always had a running book list of new books he wanted to read. Bill was so proud of his three grandchildren. He never missed an activity or sporting event if he could help it and when he was no longer able to go, never missed an opportunity to ask them about it. Growing up, Papa’s lap was their favorite place to be.
Bill always had a kind word and smile for those around him. Even during his struggles, he maintained a calming and positive demeanor and usually ended up doing the reassuring. Everyone he encountered throughout his life mentioned how he always asked about them and gave them one of his famous smiles. His son-in-law once said he had never met anyone like Bill who was such a genuinely kind person. Bill truly lived his Methodist faith daily in the way he treated others. Never has it been more true, than to know him was to love him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ken. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Jane; daughters, Sharon (John Toth) Roble and Laura (John) Przytulski; grandchildren, Lauren, Jack, and Emma; and brothers, Herb (Carolyn) and Dennis (Stacia) Roble.
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Dublin 5980 Perimeter Drive, where a visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. A private burial will take place at Kingwood Memorial Park.
