He was born November 6, 1917, in Minneapolis, one of eight children, to Benedict P. and Anna Haller. At age 12, he and his family moved to Duluth. Ben graduated from Cromwell High School and served his country during W.W.II, as a member of the Army Air Corps.
Ben enjoyed a long productive life and could be found involved in any number of interests including hunting, fishing, water skiing, bicycling, gardening and wood working. He was a skilled cabinet maker and worked for thirty years as a carpenter at U.S. Steel. In his later years he found his greatest joy in reminiscing with “his Connie” and never forgot to tell her of his appreciation and love for her.
Ben was preceded in death by a daughter, Jillayne Maertz and a grandson, Grant Hussey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Connie. A dedicated, generous father, he leaves behind his daughters, Joyce (Erich) Lietz, of Calif, Jeanne (Clark) Hussey, of Minneapolis and Jacquelyn (Michael) Dreher, of Calif; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Though he leaves behind many happy memories, he will be greatly missed by his family.
